Welcome to Horse Racing Only.com
We cover all kinds of stories related to the exciting sport of horse racing, and nothing else. No football, basketball, or baseball here, just plain horse racing.
But horse racing is a lot more than just a bunch of horses running around in circles on a dirt or grass track, and we have a variety of stories fitted to the interest of the different type of horse racing fan.
Some enjoy the wagering aspect of horse racing, the unraveling the puzzle of how a race is going to unfold and which of these animals is going to cross the wire first? These are the handicappers and we cover stories on handicapping angles for upcoming races to help you maximize your profits, along with general handicapping tips to be placed in your handicapping arsenal for use when it comes time to attack the problem of the upcoming race.
Others are more casual fans, who enjoy coming out to the races from time to time with friends and family and who wouldn’t mind making a few bucks as longs as they are at the track, but who have no interest in becoming full time handicappers. Those that are interested in seeing the matchup of Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra aren’t going to be comparing their Speed Figures, at most they are just going to read up on their last couple races and choose a horse to root for. This may be the purest form of enjoyment and ensures you will go home a winner.
Then there are the back stories which both gambler and casual fan can appreciate and always fill any upcoming race with drama. Did a horse win a big race because he was on an illegal substance and will the trainer be suspended for his illicit actions? Did a jockey play foul in a race by cutting off the path of another horse unfairly who might’ve actually won? Or when two horses compete hard against each other in a big race and finish very close together, the rematch always adds an element of excitement to a race, especially between young horses which are constantly developing and improving. Sometimes a trainer removes a jockey from a horse because he didn’t like the ride given to him even though he won the race which can be controversial. Last year, jockey Calvin Borel jumped off Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird to ride the filly Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness, to the surprise of many.
For those that only follow the Kentucky Derby, and then tune out for the rest of the year, no problem. Look for our reviews of all the top Kentucky Derby prospects for this years race, as well as the main prep races leading up to the Derby.
